Many makeup enthusiasts consider mascara as their ‘desert island makeup item’, given its ability to instantly revitalise weary eyes. Recently, beauty reporter Nina Crighton found herself in need of a new tube and stumbled upon the Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara, Black on Amazon.
Nina shared: “Now, I had tried this mascara before and remembered absolutely loving it, but it had been years since my last purchase. Ready to give it another go, I picked one up at £21.50 in the sale, which is significantly cheaper than the usual price of £29.41.
“As the name suggests, this mascara is designed to stay in place all day without smudging, which is no easy feat in the mascara world. When I tried it, I was happy to see that it did indeed last all day, however it was the incredible lengthening effect which impressed me the most.”
She continued: “After curling my lashes, I applied one coat at first, and noticed that they looked separated and lifted. Then I applied a second coat and they practically tripled in length. I think the secret is definitely to apply a couple of coats, allowing them to slightly dry in between.
“A couple of people throughout the day commented on how long they looked, even asking if I had a lash lift. I actually worked for Estee Lauder years ago, and thinking back, it did seem to be an item that people would add on to their baskets – pretty much without hesitation,” reported the Liverpool Echo.

The Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara is a hot topic among beauty enthusiasts, retailing for £22 on LookFantastic and in Debenhams’ sale for £23.60 on sale. But Amazon steals the show with the best deal at £21.50. Reviewers seem to be enchanted by it, hailing it as a cult favourite.
One satisfied customer raved: “Wow. At last I’ve found a no smudge mascara. It’s been years of looking for this, with years of panda eyes. I have oily skin and always have mascara run. You will not be disappointed if you buy this.”
Another fan shared: “I wish I had known about this earlier it’s amazing wish it was cheaper though but it definitely stands out from my other mascaras I’ve used. If your fed up with black under your eye this mascara definitely stays put all day.“
Surprisingly, not many remarks can be seen about its lengthening claims, which makes me wonder if my personal method of double coating might be the secret. For those after something more affordable, the uklash Lengthening Mascara costs just £12 and also delivers impressive lash length.
While Zero-Smudge features a classic wand, the more budget-friendly pick boasts a curved silicone brush that excels in lash separation and sculpting. Another gem in my makeup bag is REFY’s Lash Sculpt costing £20, offering ample length with a subtler finish – this gem is available here.
