Cinema-goers looking to save a few pounds by bringing their own snacks will be pleased to know that many cinema chains have no issue with customers bringing in certain food and drink items. However, as the major chains have confirmed, there are rules you’ll have to follow.
Chains such as Vue, Odeon, Cineworld and Showcase generally allow patrons to bring their own refreshments, while Everyman doesn’t allow you to bring your own snacks. But even cinemas who do allow you to bring in food and drink will have restrictions.
The one thing that was forbidden across all cinema chains was bringing your own alcohol, although some cinemas do have bars, so you can buy alcoholic drinks to enjoy during the film.
Odeon
At Odeon cinemas, heated food, strong-smelling food or alcoholic drinks from outside are off-limits. The Odeon Islington Luxe and Dine also prohibits patrons from bringing their own food.
Showcase
Showcase cinemas follow a similar policy to Odeon, forbidding hot food or alcoholic beverages brought from outside. Additionally, glass containers are banned within their premises.
Vue
Vue cinemas say that guests may not bring or consume any hot food or alcohol purchased outside of their venues. Like Showcase and Odeon, Vue offers a range of food and drinks for purchase.
Cineworld
Cineworld cinemas only permit the consumption of hot food and alcohol if it’s bought on their premises. Customers are not allowed to bring these items in, but can bring cold items.
Everyman
Only food and beverages bought at the cinema are permitted in Everyman screens. All Everyman cinemas boast fully licensed bars and offer a range of hot and cold food options.
