Bristol’s Mayflower restaurant is opening the doors to its new site this week, as part of a soft launch, and bookings are now live on the website. From tomorrow (Tuesday, January 27) diners can reserve a table at the much loved Chinese restaurant brand’s new location.
In a message to fans and customers posted to its website, The Mayflower said: “Welcome to the New Mayflower Chinese Restaurant! We’re thrilled to announce the soft opening of our new location, and bookings are now live!
“Be among the first to enjoy the authentic flavours you love in our beautifully reimagined space, thoughtfully designed for comfort, warmth, and an unforgettable dining experience. During this exclusive soft opening phase, we’ll be serving our signature dishes that you know and love, crafted with the same care and quality you’ve come to expect from us.
“Spots are limited, so don’t wait—secure your table today and join us as we embark on this exciting new chapter. We can’t wait to welcome you to the new Mayflower and share this journey with you!”
The beloved Bristol Chinese restaurant announced back in May 2024 that it would be relocating from its site at the Haymarket after some 20 years there, due to the redevelopment of the site, which saw approval of plans for the Premier Inn Haymarket site to be demolished and two new tower blocks of student flats to be built in its place, which looks set to span 28 storeys high – making it the tallest building in Bristol.
The Mayflower now resides at The Horsefair in Broadmead, opposite Primark, opening just in time to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Taking to the comments sections under posts on its Instagram page, locals and fans were quick to share their excitement at the news of the soft opening.
One said: “Yay! Finally! Booked! See you soon. I can’t wait.” While a second commented: “The time has come” and a third called it “the most exciting news”.
