A man has fallen into water at Carrickfergus as emergency services scrambled to the incident this morning.
Police confirmed the man fell into the water in the Broadlands Park area of the town.
He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
A police spokesperson said: “Police, alongside emergency service colleagues, attended the scene of a report that a man had fallen from height into shallow water at Broadlands Park, Carrickfergus at around 11.45am this morning, Monday 27th January.
“The man was taken to hospital for treatment.”
Several emergency vehicles remain at the scene, which is also close to the Prince Andrew Way area in the town.
The charity Air Ambulance was also tasked to the incident.
A NIAS spokesperson said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 11:44 on Monday 27th January following reports of an incident in the Broadlands Area, Carrickfergus.
“NIAS despatched one Emergency Ambulance crew, one Advanced Paramedic and the Hazardous Area Response Team to the incident. The Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board was also tasked to attend.
“Following initial assessment and treatment at scene, one patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital by ambulance.”
In a statement a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service added: “Firefighters are currently at the scene at Broadlands Park, Carrickfergus, Antrim. Firefighters were called to the scene at 11:56am.
“There are currently 2 Appliances from Carrickfergus Fire Station at the scene and the incident is still ongoing.”
