ALBERTA FIRST
Recommended Videos
It seems ironic and hypocritical that the premiers of Canada and the prime minister have ostracized Alberta’s Danielle Smith for the stance of ‘my province first’ while the province of Quebec has had this position for a generation.
Mike C. Skingley Erin, Ont.
(A fair point. And what is wrong with Alberta standing up for themselves when there is no national leadership?)
FAILED BRAND
To the people that voted in Justin Trudeau: What were you thinking? I recall a couple in Toronto being interviewed, and the reporter asked them why they voted for Trudeau? This couple said that they voted for the Trudeau brand. How do you like the Trudeau brand now?
Richard Pluim Edmonton
(Only the Truanons left support that brand. Meanwhile, it seems the Liberal Party is about to coronate Trudeau 2.0 — Carney)
CARNEY CAN LEAD
It is refreshing to see Mark Carney come forward. He led Canada through the Great Recession in 2008 and then he led the United Kingdom though the Brexit ordeal. We need a leader like Carney to lead us forward as he understands economics and global economies and trade.
Hugo Tiessen
(Carney navigated some difficult economics times — but now he’s running for PM under the Liberals, he sounds just like the other guy who just “resigned”)
WHY AN ELECTION DOUG?
Doug Ford tells us that he “requires a mandate” before spending “tens of billions” of dollars to support Ontarians if there is a U.S. tariff. Funny — he did not ask for a mandate before deciding to trash a perfectly repairable Ontario Science Centre and spend $2 billion to pretty up Ontario Place. He did not ask for a mandate when he decided to spend $27-plus billion to build the Ontario Line. And he certainly did not ask for a mandate when he revealed his pipe dream to spend $60-plus billion to tunnel under the 401. With a stressful federal election looming in the very near future, Ontarians neither want, need nor can afford a provincial election. Doug, our mandate is for you to stay the course and not call an election. Are you listening?
Marvin Sandomirsky Oshawa
(You’re correct — he did have a mandate already until at least June 2026)
