Whenever my pots have boiled over in the past, the water or sauce has quickly left its mark on my hob. While a good wipe will get rid of the colour of the sauce, another type of residue tends to accumulate over time.

Looking at my hob, you’d think it needs a good scrub; but it’s been wiped more than once a day. Tired of these stains spoiling the look of my hob, and the disapproving comments from my mum, I decided it was time for a change.

In the past, I’ve used kitchen cleaning sprays and Dettol wipes and scrubbed it with a microfibre cloth. But there was one tool I hadn’t tried yet, but was keen to give a go.

I got a hob scraper for less than £6 on Amazon; it’s the Minky Homecare Hob and Oven Scraper. While my first attempt to reveal the blade inside the tool was trickier than it should have been, I soon got the hang of it.

There’s a circular button that needs to be pressed on and down to reveal the blade. Very gently, I scraped along the hob, pleased to see that the marks were lifting and my hob wasn’t being scratched.

It’s not perfect, but it’s much better than it was! (Image: (Image: Express))

Spending a few minutes scraping along the hob, which I found rather therapeutic, led to a better result than I anticipated. While the magic tool has certainly helped to remove the worst of the stains, it will need another round to completely remove the marks. Whether or not the stains will be completely removed remains to be seen.
