A 22-year-old Scarborough man is facing five charges following a child pornography and luring investigation in Ajax.
On Nov. 8, the Durham Regional Police West Division school liaison office responded to a suspicious person call at a public school in the Harkins-Delaney Drs. area.
School staff received information that a 13-year-old female student was planning to meet with a male she believed was 16 years old. Police searched the area, but did not locate a suspect. He was later identified and arrested at his Scarborough home, while a search warrant was conducted for electronic devices.
Talha Shaikh is charged with three child pornography-related offences and two of sexual assault or interference.
The victim initially was contacted by the suspect through Snapchat with the username txjan02.

MAN SOUGHT IN WHITBY SEX ASSAULT PROBE
Durham Regional Police are searching for a male suspect after a sexual assault in Whitby on Jan. 12.
Cops said the victim was in the Simcoe St. S.-Hall St. area of Oshawa at about 2:30 a.m., when she was approached by a male suspect who offered her a ride. They said the suspect drove the victim to Moore Crt.-William Smith Dr. area of Whitby, where he sexually assaulted her.
The suspect is a Brown male, about 40-50 years old, with a large build and black beard. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
The suspect vehicle is a newer-model black pickup truck with automatic running boards and black leather seats. The victim reported seeing construction helmets in the back seat.
Investigators asked that anyone with video footage of Simcoe between Olive Ave. and Hwy. 401 on Jan. 12 between 2:15 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. contact them at 1-888-579-1520, Ext. 5676. 1 CHARGED, 1 WANTED IN BRAMPTON ROBBERY PROBE
Two men face three charges each for their alleged involvement in a Brampton gas station robbery on Jan. 17.
Police said two male suspects went to a gas station in the Hurontario St.-Bovaird Dr. W. area, during which they allegedly displayed an imitation firearm, made a demand for cash and left with some money. The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.
One suspect was arrested a short distance away, while a warrant was issued for a second suspect.
Jagtar Singh, 30, of Brampton, has been charged with robbery, wearing a disguise with intent and using an imitation firearm, while a warrant has been issued for Taranjot Singh, 30, of no fixed address, on the same charges.

WHITBY SHOOTING
Durham Regional Police are searching for suspects after several shots were fired at a Whitby business on Sunday night.
Cops said they responded at about 7:50 p.m. to the Hopkins St.-Nichol Ave. area after an employee pulled into a parking lot as several shots were fired toward the business and his vehicle.
The victim did not sustain any physical injuries and the suspects fled before police arrived.
This business was also the target of a shooting on Thursday.
