The Masked Singer unveiled the celebrity behind Teeth in the latest Saturday show.
As the fan favourite ITV programme continues to captivate audiences with its current series, new hidden celebs have captivated audiences each week.
Joining the array of performers this season are Bush, Dressed Crab, Bear, Kingfisher, Pegasus, Pufferfish, Snail, Spag Bol, Tattoo, Teeth, Toad In The Hole, and Wolf.
The explosive reveal has already seen some stars ditch their masks, with Toad In The Hole confirmed as Macy Gray, Pegasus as Prue Leith, Spag Bol as Kate Garraway, and Carol Decker revealed to be Tattoo.
In the action-packed episode aired on 25 January, an intense battle unfolded on stage between Bear, Bush, Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Pufferfish, Snail, Teeth, and Wolf, reports the Mirror.
Sadly, it was time for Teeth to say goodbye as they were voted off and unmasked as the beloved presenter Mel Giedroyc. Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were quick to share their surprise, admitting they had no idea it was Mel, 56, who is best known for hosting The Great British Bake Off when it was on BBC.
One person said: “Well that’s hilarious, I had absolutely no idea it was Mel #TheMaskedSinger”, a different account put: “Love Mel she’s such a lovely funny lady fair play to her! #TheMaskedSinger”, another wrote: “I am obsessed with Mel being Teeth #TheMaskedSinger” while a different viewer added: “mel giedroyc on the masked singer WHATTTT #TheMaskedSinger.”
Discussing the revelation, Mel stated: “I’ll take Su Pollard! It’s so nice to see you guys. I love these teeth so much! I was very pleased with Alex Scott. Such a fun show, it’s impossible not to have fun on this show!”
In a post-show chat on The After Mask with Harriet Rose, she added: “Oh my God, I feel really elated actually. I blooming loved it! I’m sad because my next song was The Pointer Sisters Automatic done as Marlene Dietrich. That would have been fun.”
Continuing, Mel said: “Listen, if you told me you’re going to have a chance to sing the Neighbours theme tune dressed as an enormous pair of wind up teeth with pink tights and big pink flapping feet, I would say I could stop my career now. For me that is the pinnacle!”
When asked if her good friend and co-star Sue Perkins, who appeared as Dragon on the show in 2021, had encouraged her to participate, Mel responded: “She doesn’t know!” She elaborated: “No, because she didn’t tell me. She was a Dragon and she never told me. So right back at ya girlfriend.”
Mel conceded that the only person she informed about her appearance on the show was her husband, revealing: “He took it really seriously. The level of training he took me through at home!”
The Masked Singer airs on Saturdays at 7pm on ITV1, ITV X & STV.
