Adding a hotel stay to the end of a busy day out is one of life’s little luxuries. It elevates the entire experience and saves us from the fatigue of driving home.

We had a delightful time visiting Warwick Castle a family favourite and then had the added pleasure of staying in its newest hotel, which seamlessly blends into the surroundings, resembling a medieval long hall.

Each room at the Warwick Castle Hotel accommodates two adults and up to three children, with decor inspired by the War of the Roses, featuring rose motifs, chambers adorned with richly coloured fabrics, custom tapestries and shields.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by an imposing statue of a knight on horseback that comes to life at certain times. Our two children were captivated by it, adding a touch of magic as we checked in.

The check-in process was smooth, and we were soon being escorted to our medieval-themed room via the lift. The room was spacious and comfortable, easily accommodating our family of four.

Our boys had bunk beds, there was a pullout floor bed for a third child if needed, and also a travel cot. The bunk beds were slightly separated from our double bed by a half-wall, providing us with a space to chat after the kids had gone to sleep.

The rooms are well-equipped with all the essentials including a flat screen TV, hairdryer, and a selection of teas, coffees, biscuits and milk. However, there’s no fridge in the room a minor inconvenience if you need to store milk for young children.

Thankfully, the hotel restaurant staff were more than willing to provide us with milk free of charge in the evening.

The hotel’s restaurant can be reached via an outdoor bridge and offers a hearty sit-down buffet carvery. The menu includes a variety of meats, potatoes, vegetables, salads, kid-friendly meals (nuggets, chips and beans), and desserts.

The food was satisfying and perfect after a long day – the buffet style service allowed us to dine quickly, a crucial factor when dining with tired little ones.

A buffet breakfast is served in the same location the following morning, setting us up for another exciting day at Warwick Castle. Highlights included the War of the Roses Live, a thrilling live action jousting event, The Falconer’s Quest birds of prey show, and Zog Playland, a fantastic play area for the kids.

With so much to see and do, it was challenging to fit everything into one day, making the hotel stay a great way to extend the experience.
