Major UK supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Waitrose and Aldi are urgently recalling Newcastle Brown Ale 550ml bottles due to potential glass fragments in the product.

Heineken UK has issued the recall across multiple retailers as a precautionary measure.

Customers are being advised not to consume the affected bottles and to return them to stores for a full refund.

No other Heineken products are affected by this issue.

Britons have also been alerted recently of a recall for eight Cape Herb and Spice products by Terry Smyth Ltd.

The products, which are across Northern Ireland, have been recalled due to possible plastic contamination.

The affected products include various seasonings and salts, which the company warns may contain pieces of plastic.

“The possible presence of plastic makes these products unsafe to eat,” the Food Standards Agency warned.
