Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks has revealed the rather sweet secret code name he was given on the show.
In a bid to keep the cast’s identities under wraps, Pete and his former co-stars were each given dessert-themed monikers.
Revealing the name he was given on his Staying Relevant podcast with Sam Thompson, the 37-year-old shared: “So the theme for Strictly was desserts, so everyone had different dessert names.
“So I was treacle sponge, they thought of it [like] ‘Hello treacle’.”
His co-star couldn’t help but laugh at the revelation and savagely branded it “the biggest ick”.
Pete went on to stress that the term isn’t part of his vocabulary, adding: “I obviously don’t say that but someone imagined that I’d say it.”
With the help of professional dancer Jowita Przystał, Pete danced his way to the semi-final, surprising many with his progress along the way.
Head judge Shirley Ballas was particularly fond of his journey. Following his Foxtrot to Bobby Darin’s Beyond The Sea in the semi-final she told him: “You had no experience whatsoever coming in.
“I thought you did a very good job on your footwork and your neckline…. week one you were like this and today you were shining.”
Shirley went on to say: “You did a grand job, you should walk with your head high,” before branding him: “Mr Strictly Come Dancing.”
The reality star was eliminated just before the final, which saw Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell take the win.
After leaving the show, Pete expressed his gratitude on Instagram to his fans, dance partner Jowita, and everyone involved in the show.
As part of his lengthy statement in view of his 1.9 million followers, he shared: “I tried my best from day one and I took the show seriously.
“I did what I could and I appreciate every single one of you that gave me the opportunity to keep doing that week on week.
“You don’t always have to be the best or have the most talent, but you should never stop trying! Thank you.”
He also thanked Jowita for her unwavering belief in him from the start and declared that they would remain friends “for life”.
