As we wait for January payday to finally roll around, spending money on eating out and takeaways will be put on hold for a moment. To help you curb your cravings, Nate Anthony has shared a delectable recipe that’s sure to win you over.

Food creator and recipe book author Nate, known to his followers as Bored of Lunch on TikTok, demonstrated how easy it is to recreate your favourite takeaways at home, for a fraction of the price. This time he tackled one of Nando’s signature burgers, packed full of spice and salty halloumi.

A cheat’s method to recreating the signature spice of Nando’s is by picking up your favourite flavour sauce at the supermarket. Another bonus is that the entire recipe can be whipped up in everyone’s favourite kitchen appliance: the air fryer.

Air fryers can also make the burger healthier than the one you’d buy at a restaurant, and allow you to recreate it in no time. Nate captioned his post: “Such a quick and easy one but really hits the spot. I’m always waiting for a table at Nando’s for at least 45 mins, Deliveroo is even worse, maybe it’s just Belfast anyway.. Ps I have an Airfryer cookbook.”

The fakeaway totals up as just 578 calories per burger. Nate said: “No long wait for table or waiting on delivery.”

Nate’s video has been viewed over a massive 1.1million times, receiving 24,600 likes and 66 comments. One person said: “Looks so good.” So if you want to save money and rustle up your own version of Nando’s at home, this is what you’ll need.

Air Fryer Nando’s Chicken & Halloumi Roll Fakeaway

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts, flattened
  • 4 tbsp of Nando’s sauce
  • 4-5 halloumi slices
  • Garlic butter
  • Ciabatta rolls

Method

Coat the chicken breasts in three tablespoons of your favourite Nando’s sauce. Then coat the halloumi slices in one tablespoon of sauce.

Add garlic butter to your ciabatta rolls. Add chicken to the air fryer for ten minutes at 200℃.

After ten minutes add the halloumi for three minutes. After a total of 13 minutes add your bread roll for two minutes so everything’s ready together.

Top the ciabatta roll with lettuce, sweet mayo, your chicken and halloumi. Serve and enjoy!
