It has been a freezing few days in Washington DC but the political temperature of America has been at fever pitch, culminating in a volcanic explosion of ‘America First’ rhetoric and a slew of executive orders that have ushered in the return of the 45th, and now the 47th President of the United States, Donald J Trump.

The man who has achieved what many, many thought was impossible by returning to the White House on a seismic wave of nation building, woke cancelling, tax slashing, US business boosting and immigration controlling promises.

Lord Kulveer Ranger has heralded the dawn of Donald Trump 2.0

In the days leading up to the inauguration, I mingled with business leaders, political lobbyists and ordinary Americans, their message was clear; America needs change, and he is the man to make it happen.

His inauguration speech was delivered inside the US capital’s rotunda under its 88-metre-high dome due to the combination of freezing temperature and high security risks. We must remember, and he did remind us, he is only still here by the barest millimetres of an assigns bullet – and due to the grace of God.

The 250,000 ticket holders of which I was one, who had flocked to the beating heart of the nation’s political capital found hastily arranged ‘watch events’ to attend and gaze at the returning, victorious president surrounded by his political friends and defeat foes.

Presidents of the past, justices of state, religious leaders and the first family Trump cocooned the new leader of the free world but there was another notable group; the tech leaders of Apple, Amazon, Google and led by Chief First Tech Bro, Elon Musk.

The confirmation that the tech sector will be at the heart of driving Trump’s economic vision of US economy could not be clearer.

His mission is obvious, bring those who have successfully transformed the private and commercial sectors in the last two decades and let them do it to the public sector. Innovate, revitalise, improve efficiency, cut costs and waste but overall make it better, make it exciting, make it great. It’s a mission that the whole world will note and especially so should the UK and surely many of us would not mind a government razor focused on trying to ‘Make Britain Great Again’.

It was notable that when the British Government recently launched it’s AI Opportunity Action Plan, pinning its hope for economic growth and public sector ‘change’ on the large-scale adoption of the technology, it was supported but some voices from the tech industry, and led by a small business tech entrepreneur who no one outside of the well informed tech sector would recognise, and it was all staged on a university campus.

Compare that to the imagery of the colossal global tech bros of the US, lining up behind their new commander-in-chief and bring their collective might to deliver his vision for the American people!

As I stood in the packed auditorium of The Heritage Foundation and listened to the newly sworn in President, whooping, cheering and chanting of U! S! A! accompanied his every statement and every order.

Then a little old lady’s voice cried out next to me…. “Daddy’s home!”. Yes he is, and he’s gonna take care of business!
