BBC Breakfast fans were left bemused when an on-air gaffe went viral after Friday’s (January 24) show. While Charlie Stayt was deep in conversation with Tana Adkin KC from the Criminal Bar Association, the camera unexpectedly swung to reveal two unsuspecting crew members near the BBC Sport studio.

The pair swiftly ducked out of view once they noticed they were on camera.

Amused viewers wasted no time taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts on the slip-up. One viewer commented: “#BBCBreakfast hahahaha. We see ya.”

and another chimed in with: “When you didn’t expect to become a star on @BBCBreakfast. Love their awkward looks, as they slunk back off camera! ! !”

A third fan playfully remarked: “#BBCBreakfast gone wrong. Smile please,” while many others retweeted the footage, using various laughing emojis to express their amusement, reports the Express.

In the midst of funny blunders, the biggest story on today’s BBC Breakfast was the formidable Storm Eowyn that has prompted the Met Office to release a rare red weather warning. The alert underscores the life-threatening nature of the storm currently sweeping across the UK and Ireland.

The brunt of the tempest is expected to batter Northern Ireland and certain regions of Scotland, where wind speeds could escalate to a staggering 100mph along coastal stretches.

Authorities have implored millions to remain indoors and avoid traveling as the storm surges on, triggering widespread school closures and suspending several train services.

BBC Weather’s own Sarah Keith-Lucas has been diligently informing BBC Breakfast audiences about the storm’s progress throughout the morning.

Speaking to viewers, Sarah described potentially treacherous conditions, saying: “Some big waves around right across our coasts. We’ve got yellow warnings really across the UK, amber warnings in the north, but more serious red warnings in force across Northern Ireland and central Scotland,” She added: “Storm Eowyn has been intensifying over the last few days. There’s been a strong jetstream driving it through.”

“So, some really dangerous weather conditions out there due to the force of the wind. A frost and some icy stretches in the morning, but the focus today is on the strength of the wind and do stay at home if you can in those red warning areas.”
