Firefighters from across Bristol were called to the top floor of a ten storey building in the centre of the city this afternoon after an entire window was seen hanging loose in the wind, threatening to fall to the ground.

The area around the block of flats in the Finzel’s Reach area of Redcliffe was cordoned off while firefighters from three difference fire stations made the area safe and went up to try to sort the problem.

The block of flats is part of the multi-million development near the Floating Harbour and the building is right next to Channel 4’s hub office in Bristol.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “On Thursday, January 23, at 1.03pm crews from Temple, Bedminster and Avonmouth Fire Stations were called to reports of an unsecure window on the 9th floor of a building on East Tucker Street, Redcliffe, Bristol.

“Crews were able to lower the window from the inside of the building using small tools and rope,” she added.
