Viewers of The Traitors were left riveted this series, and with a mere two episodes to go, anticipation is through the roof regarding the show’s climactic end.
During the closing moments of Friday’s episode (January 17), we caught a sneak peek at the nail-biting ending. Claudia Winkleman, the charismatic host, hit the contestants with a bombshell around the roundtable.
With a serious tone, she delivered the news: “I’m going to award one of you with an extraordinary power that has the potential to turn the entire game on its head.”
Speculation is rampant over what the impending twist could be, particularly following a fan theory circulated on X, previously known as Twitter.
In a recent broadcast, the ever-observant Super TV spotted an intriguing book titled ‘The Seer’ featured prominently in a shot, hinting it wasn’t just set dressing, reports Wales Online.
Their tweet unravelled the clue: “In the game ‘Werewolf’… The Seer is arguably the most powerful and important Villager. The Seer targets a player, and the Moderator silently indicates whether that player is a Villager or a Werewolf.”
“The Seer must then find a way to use that knowledge to help the Villagers, without becoming the next target themselves.”
For the uninitiated, Werewolf is akin to a social deduction game like Mafia, pitting werewolves against villagers in a battle of wits.
The intriguing gameplay kicks off as initially assigned killers take out their chosen victims, kickstarting the first phase of the game.
In the gripping second phase, all remaining players must deduce who among them is responsible for the in-game ‘murders’, leading to intense voting sessions to identify the culprits.
Should The Seer’s role not be a mere distraction, Claudia Winkleman might just bestow one player with the crucial ability to uncover the identities of the Traitors.
This individual will then shoulder the responsibility of convincing their fellow Faithfuls of the Traitors’ true nature, with success hinging on their powers of persuasion.
Following Friday’s nail-biting episode, viewers swarmed social media platform X to theorise about the hinted twist, as one fan posted: “Wait what’s this extraordinary power Claudia mentioned in the preview for next week, she claims could turn the game on its head.”
Another enthusiast speculated: “Imagine if the extraordinary power is to unbanish or resurrect a faithful #TheTraitorsUK.”
Meanwhile, a third chimed in with their curiosity: “Somebody else said: “Very curious about what this new twist is gonna be. I wonder if someone is gonna have a chance to learn who the Traitors are… #TheTraitors.””
The Traitors continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
