Bradley Walsh has revealed the real reason why he doesn’t meet up with the Chasers after they finish filming for the popular ITV game show.
Chatting on a recent episode of the Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner? podcast Bradley Walsh told host Tim Lihoreau that the opportunity to socialise and share dinner with his colleagues never comes to fruition due to one particular reason.
The 64-year-old said: “No, we don’t (go out for dinner).” Bradley explained that, due to the stringent running of the show, there is never an opportunity to enjoy dinner together.
He said: “When we’re working, when we’re in the studio, they are very strict indeed. So what they do is, and this is serious, they will do their show (the Chasers) and I don’t know what Chaser we’re going to have.”
He added: “So we shoot three (episodes) a day, the executive producers will choose three Chasers to turn up that day, so I don’t know which three Chasers they are, so when they literally come across the bridge. I don’t know who’s coming across the bridge, they literally walk on so I don’t know.”
But, as the three Chasers finish their show for that day, Bradley explained that they very rarely have time to socialise together: “When they’ve finished the show they go home and they swap for the following day in case they’re needed for the following day. So they very rarely go out.”
As the podcast continued, Bradley explained that his previous laughing outbursts on the show are entirely genuine as he revealed that he is blissfully unaware of what the questions will be before he quizzes contestants on the show.
In a career that has spanned across five decades, Bradley has appeared in a whole host of roles in television. One of his most well-known roles came in the long-running ITV soap Coronation Street where he played Danny Baldwin for two years, before he left the show. Since then more acting roles followed with him appearing in the likes of Law & Order: UK and the beloved BBC series Doctor Who from 2017 to 2021.
Away from his acting roles, Bradley has become a regular fixture on our screens having presented ITV’s The Chase ever since it first aired in June 2009. During that time it has gradually become one of the most watched game shows in the UK.
