Only Fools and Horses fans have reportedly been left furious as the BBC classic sitcom has once again been slapped with content warnings.

The beloved show, which starred Sir David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst and the late Lennard Pearce, has been given trigger warnings by streaming service ITVX following its introduction to the streaming service.

All seven series of the iconic sitcom have now been added to the platform, despite it airing on the BBC during its heyday.

The show, which ran from 1981 to 2003, has seen several episodes hit with warnings about several issues, including “racial” language and “outdated attitudes”.

A number of fan favourite episodes, including the debut series’ The Russians are Coming, series two’s The Yellow Peril and series three’s Who’s A Pretty Boy are all preceded with a warning.

Before the beginning of the iconic opening credits, each episode begins with the advisory that it will contain “some offensive racial language of the time.”

Series four classic episode The Miracle of Peckham, another beloved instalment, also warns viewers it contains language that “may offend”.

Only Fools’ iconic 1985 Christmas special was also slapped with the proviso it featured “dated attitudes and behaviours and racist language some viewers may find offensive.”

The final two full series of the show, broadcast in 1989 and 1991, were the only ones to avoid any content flags.

It is not the first time the iconic sitcom has been hit with trigger warnings.

Channel UK Gold, which regularly broadcasts reruns of the programme, has also enraged fans with its pre-show warnings.

Fans have been sharing their fury at the moves from the various networks broadcasting the Only Fools and Horses.

“Being offended by Only Fools and Horse, pathetic. Get a grip,” one raged on X, according to The Sun.

Another fumed: “Latest #WokeMindVirus nonsense… I heard is that Only Fools and Horses has outdated attitudes. Shattering, meaningless, pointless trigger warning for someone.”

“It takes a brave platform to showcase a comedy. People are desperate to be outraged and offended in this country Even UK Gold has to give a f****g warning before showing an episode of Only Fools And Horse,” a third slammed.

A fourth, commenting on a specific episode, wrote: “Woke s**t gone crazy on this one… nothing bad about it as (it’s) all just a joke. Where (are) the bad jokes or cruelty about anything?”

“There’ll never be a new series of Only Fools and Horses because the 2024 generation will get offended,” a fifth despaired.

Only Fools and Horses joins a host of other ’70s and ’80s comedies that have faced the addition of trigger warnings in recent years.

Legendary BBC comedy Fawlty Towers was slapped with similar warnings and even had the iconic The Germans episode completely removed from streaming platforms.

It was soon returned to screens after backlash from fans.

Speaking to GB News in 2023, Fawlty Towers creator John Cleese explained a planned stage reimagining of the show would have to be “hugely different”.
