The latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an upcoming series scheduled to launch on Disney+ next week.

Entitled Your Friendly Neighborhood, the show presents viewers with a unique scenario in a parallel MCU timeline. In this alternate reality, it’s Norman Osborn, known to many as the Green Goblin, who takes Peter Parker under his wing Peter Parker, rather than Tony Stark.

Paying tribute to its origins, the animation leans heavily into the aesthetic of the classic Spider-Man comics, and fans were delighted to see the original 1967 Spider-Man theme being referenced in the trailer.

With help from The Mirror, this is everything you need to know about Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man including the plot, who appears in the series and its release schedule.

What is the plot of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?

A brief plot synopsis from Disney+ reads: “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is an animated series that follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.”

Setting itself apart from the main MCU, the animated series will follow Peter Parker’s path within a separate timeline, preceding the events known from Captain America: Civil War.

Colman Domingo plays Norman Osborn, who steps in as Peter’s mentor. But given his evil alternate identity as the Green Goblin, can we really trust him and how does this change Spider-Man’s backstory?

The show will introduce audiences to Peter Parker, donning an array of new special suits and characters not seen in the central MCU story.

The creative team behind the scenes includes Jeff Trammell as the head writer and Mel Zwyer as the supervising director. The executive producers are Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt and Trammell.
