A North Carolina man appears to have shot and killed his wife, who he accused of cheating, before turning the gun on himself.

Police in Fuquay-Varina, 27 kilometres south of Raleigh, said officers responded last Saturday to a home following a report that someone had been shot.

When cops arrived at the residence, a woman and a man were found dead.

Police said Cathleen Lesniak, 59, was located with fatal injuries while George Lesniak, 63, had a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was also dead.

According to his LinkedIn and Facebook pages, George Lesniak was a vice president of training for Autel Automotive Intelligence USA.

His wife Cathleen’s Facebook page says she worked as a technical production manager at Advance Auto Parts.

“This incident is deeply tragic, and we urge the community to keep the family in their thoughts during this challenging time,” police said in a social media update.

On Sunday, Autel officials shared a short statement about the shooting on the company’s Facebook page.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occured at the Lesniak residence on January 18. We at Autel express our heartfelt condolences to the Lesniak family and friends,” the statement said.

However, in a chilling Facebook post that was later deleted, it appears George Lesniak accused his wife of having an affair and confessed to the killing.

“My wife admitted to cheating on me so I killed her,” he wrote on ADAS Support, a Facebook group dedicated to advanced driver-assistance system where he was an administrator, according to a screengrab of his post obtained by The NC Beat.

“I’m about to kill myself. Figure this group out for your selves.”

Group members say the post went live at about 6 p.m. on Saturday. Minutes later, police were dispatched to the Lesniak home.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
