Marlborough College, the prestigious school where the Princess of Wales studied, has unveiled plans to modernise one of its boarding houses amid reports Prince George will attend the school.

The historic Wiltshire institution is seeking permission to refurbish and extend C2 House, which leaders say requires significant upgrades.

The project aims to rejuvenate what the college describes as “outdated” bedrooms and communal spaces within the boarding facility.

The proposed improvements include adding extra storeys to the existing structure, as part of the school’s commitment to maintaining modern standards.

This comes amid an upcoming decision on Prince George’s next school, where the future king and his parents must decide his upcoming place of education.

According to the Mail, the 11-year-old will likely attend his mother’s former co-educational school, Marlborough College.

This would be a break from tradition as Prince William and Prince Harry were both educated at the single-sex institution, Eton College.

An insider told the publication: “Parents have been talking about nothing else and discussions have really ramped up in recent weeks but security is obviously a massive consideration.”

C2 House is one of six boarding houses at the world-renowned college.

The plans include extending the lower block across three storeys to enhance the boarding facilities.

A single-storey extension will also be added to the ground floor communal area, according to documents submitted to the council.

The designs have been carefully created to complement the existing architecture of the building.

The site, located on Bath Road, stands separate from the main college grounds and is not a listed building.

The proposed changes are part of a broader initiative to ensure the boarding house meets contemporary standards.

According to the planning application, the college’s mission is to deliver the UK’s “best independent education”.

The application emphasises that having “modern, exemplary buildings is essential” to achieve this goal.
