A 23-year-old driver involved in Sunday night’s fatal incident connected to a submerged vehicle at Ashbridges Bay Park has been charged.

Toronto Police said officers responded at 9:31 p.m. to a call for a marine rescue involving a vehicle that entered the water at the east-end park.

Police alleged that two people were in a vehicle that entered the water. The male driver was able to exit the vehicle and police arrived and entered the water to try to extract the female passenger. With the help of the marine unit, the woman was extracted and taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 25-year-old woman later died in the hospital.

Kristjan Serraj, of Oakville, was charged Monday with dangerous operation causing death.

4 BOYS CHARGED IN CARJACKING, ROBBERY PROBE

Two 16-year-old boys and two 15-year-old boys have been charged following a series of violent carjackings and retail robberies earlier this month.

Toronto Police responded on Jan. 7 at 4:50 a.m. to an alarm call in the Finch Ave. W.-Hwy. 27 area.

Police said two male suspects attended a store in a stolen vehicle while wearing masks. Cops said the suspects allegedly rushed behind the counter and made a demand for cash before assaulting an employee.

Cops said the accused took cash and merchandise before fleeing in the stolen vehicle.

On Monday at 8:06 p.m., police responded to a robbery call in the Kipling Ave.-Rexdale Blvd. area.

Police said four suspects allegedly travelling in a stolen Toyota RAV 4 collided head-on with the victim’s vehicle. Cops said one suspect allegedly pulled the victim out of the vehicle and a second suspect produced a handgun. Both entered the victim’s vehicle and drove a short distance. At that point, police said one suspect returned to the victim and demanded the keys. The suspect allegedly produced a handgun and assaulted the victim, causing minor injuries.

The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle with the RAV 4 in tandem.

Then at 10:14 p.m., police responded to a robbery call in the Steeles Ave. W.-Weston Rd. area.

Police said four suspects allegedly travelling in the previously stolen vehicle went to a store while wearing masks. Two suspects allegedly produced handguns and demanded cash and merchandise.

Police responded and located all four suspects inside the store before taking them into custody, allegedly recovering a loaded handgun, a replica handgun and items related to the investigation. Both stolen vehicles were also recovered.

A 15-year-old from Toronto, a 15-year-old from Brampton, a 16-year-old from Brampton and a 16-year-old from Southgate, Ont., were charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent and theft of a motor vehicle with violence, among other charges. Three of the four were also charged with multiple counts of failure to comply with a release order.

The youths can’t be named per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WEAPON SEIZED, MAN CHARGED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

A traffic stop in Mississauga last weekend led to a loaded weapon being seized and a 22-year-old being charged.

Peel Regional Police said officers from the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing team were conducting a patrol in the City Centre Dr.-Hurontario St. area on Saturday at 6:27 p.m. when they seized a loaded Glock 23 firearm.

Nathanyal-Xavier Bell, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, among other offences.
