The Canadiens announced before Wednesday morning’s practice at the CN Sports Complex in Brossard that forward Owen Beck has been returned to the AHL’s Laval Rocket.

The Canadiens called the 20-year-old forward up from Laval last Sunday after he posted 9-16-25 totals and a plus-9 differential in 37 games as an AHL rookie with the Rocket.

Beck played on the fourth line with Jake Evans and Joel Armia for Sunday night’s 5-4 overtime win over the New York Rangers and again in Tuesday night’s 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Beck had 8:13 of ice time against the Rangers and 6:57 against the Lightning without registering a point in either game. Beck is a natural centre, but was used as a left-winger with Evans at centre and Armia on right wing.

The Canadiens selected Beck in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.

The Rocket will play the Hershey Bears Wednesday at Place Bell (7 p.m., RDS).

The Canadiens will be back in action Thursday in Detroit against the Red Wings (7 p.m., TSN2, RDS) before returning home to play the New Jersey Devils on Saturday at the Bell Centre (7 p.m., Citytv, SNE, TVA Sports).
