When money’s tight it’s important to bag the best deals possible – so if you’re looking at shaking up your haircare, we’ve got a deal that’s as good as Black Friday discount. Boots has a deep discount on the popular Remington Shea Soft Straightener, now available for just £19.99 – down from its usual price of £69.99.

This is price matched on Amazon, who are also selling it for £19.99. The Shea Soft Straightener, beloved by customers, features micro-conditioners to ensure hair not only looks sleek but feels silky soft, also winning plaudits for its luxurious design.

Its ability to heat up in a swift 15 seconds has not gone unnoticed, with fans raving about how quickly they can achieve perfectly sleek locks.

The straighteners are popular with shoppers, garnering a 4.4 out of 1,283 reviews on Amazon and 4.5 out of 113 reviews on Boots. One happy shopper said: “They heat up quickly and work really well. Much better than my old GHDs. They hold my hair straight even in bad weather. I have hair below the shoulders. Very good value for money.”

Another said: “Although I have used ghds for decades, I wanted a much cheaper alternative for my daughter, and this set was an absolute steal at the price; definitely worth a try. They are super stylish and really quite cool for a young, almost teen. They heat up quickly and create smooth and silky straight hair. I also found them much lighter than my usual and easier to hold, which my daughter also likes. She also loves the colour and feels they are a bit more ‘her’ than my straighteners. My only negative was that they did feel and look cheaper than a set of ghds, but so far I haven’t noticed any difference in quality, so what’s not to love. I am thinking about myself some when a new set is needed. I really would recommend taking a chance with this set.”

A third remarked: “I’ve used GHD straighteners for years and I was always loathe to try another brand. I saw these on Black Friday and thought I’d give them a go. They’re really great! Good quality, comfortable to use and they heat up really quickly. The various heat settings are an added bonus feature.

“The plates are a decent width; I have thick hair in a mid length inverted Bob, and my hair doesn’t snag or get caught. They glide seamlessly and style perfectly. I use the GHD heat protect and a Paul Mitchell smoothing serum so I do protect my hair as much as I possibly can, but these are absolutely fab! I love the lock option, so I can wrap them in my heat resistant pouch and pop them straight into my storage caddy. Really impressed and highly recommend.”

However, of the negative reviews, one person said: “Found that these straighteners are only any use when on max heat, which isn’t too good for your hair. If they are on lower settings, they do little apart from make your hair full off static. Wouldn’t buy them again although i’m using them and they’ll do for now.”

Another said: “I like that it is really good price, looks pretty and leaves hair soft. Heats up quickly and has a nice long cord which makes it easy to use. The bad points are that it’s quite short compared to others I’ve had from the same brand. And also it pinches your hand because you have to hold it over the hinge. First time I used it it got me twice and it’s hurts quite a lot. I also really wasn’t a fan of that it was sent with no packaging. Just the straightener box with the label on it so anyone could have just opened it in transit. Luckily they didn’t and it arrived fine.”

You can get the Remington straighteners on Boots and Amazon for £19.99. Those looking to invest in ghds instead, the ghd Platinum+ Hair Straightener in white, which offer both quality and style in one go. They also promise 75 per cent more shine but do come with a £239 price tag.

Otherwise, you might want to consider the ghd Original, on offer at Amazon for £122.32 (down from £139). If you’re in the market for alternative straighteners, consider the BaByliss 2598CU Elegance Hair Straightener, available on Argos for £50.
