On ratemyteacher.com, disgraced Vaughan Catholic school teacher Marianna Riossi got top marks because she “makes learning fun.”
Riossi was the “cool” teacher. In her class, kids could vape, use their cellphones and hand in their assignments late — if at all.
She also had sex with several 15-year-old boys.
Now, the 35-year-old registered sex offender is back on the streets after serving just one year of a four-year prison sentence, Toronto.com reports. Raven-haired Riossi pleaded guilty to numerous sexual encounters with the boys while teaching at two York Region Catholic schools.
And at least one local father is furious.
Marco Petrongolo told the website he was stunned after learning that Riossi was granted day parole on June 20, 2024, and then full parole on Dec. 10, 2024.
He told Toronto.com: “It increasingly seems like the perpetrators are the ones who are fine after the incident and the victims are left with lifetime wounds.”
Riossi’s sentencing was one of the most lurid teacher-sex cases to emerge in Canada.

In addition, to sharing an eye-popping 15,500 texts with one of the victims, she also sent them nude images of herself and had raunchy sexual encounters with the boys numerous times in her vehicle on side streets in Vaughan.
And as the walls closed in on Riossi, she told one of the boys who had fallen afoul that she would rat him out to his parents and the school board if he didn’t stop pestering her.
Riossi also threatened to kill herself if she was sent to prison. And when she was out of bail for the sex crimes, Riossi was convicted of drunk driving in 2023.
According to Toronto.com’s Jeremy Grimaldi, the parole panel seemed to think that society would be better off if she was sprung early from prison.
As per Toronto.com, the Parole Board wrote: “Your release will contribute to the protection of society by facilitating your reintegration into society as a law-abiding citizen.
“You … recognize the harm you have caused so many people. To the victims, you understand the struggles in their healing and the impact of the victims’ families’ future challenges while they try to support their loved ones.”
During her sentencing hearing, Riossi blamed her outrageous behaviour on a 2012 Jet Ski crash, causing her to start popping Percocets.
While in prison, she reportedly took part in “Bible studies, anxiety management and conflict resolution courses.”
“Cases like these seem to fall through the cracks,” Petrongolo said. “But they matter, and talking about it (lets people know) it’s happening.”
He added that it’s almost certain that if the perpetrator had been a male teacher sexually assaulting females, he’d still be behind bars.
According to Toronto.com, conditions of Riossi’s release include regular appointments with a mental health professional, not contacting the victims, not having more than one SIM card and letting parole officers scour her texts, photos, videos and social media.
