A police officer appeared in court today accused of using disorderly behaviour at Belfast International Airport.

Appearing by videolink at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, Kayleigh Elliott (21) confirmed she understood the two charges against her.

Both offences are alleged to have been committed on December 23 last year.

Elliott, whose address was given as c/o Enniskillen PSNI, is accused of using disorderly behaviour at the airport and that she caused criminal damage to six bottles of whiskey, worth £197.94, belonging to Aelia Duty Free.

None of the alleged facts giving rise to the charges were opened in court, but a police officer gave evidence that she believed she could connect Elliott to both charges.

A prosecuting lawyer told the court that “papers were emailed yesterday”, while defence solicitor Garry Smyth asked for the case to be adjourned as “we will be making representations” to the Public Prosecution Service.

District Judge Nigel Broderick adjourned the case to February 4 “for attitude”.
