A juice and snack chain founded in Belfast is now opening its first unit in the Republic, creating 16 new jobs.

Juice Jar’s intentions to open up in Dublin were first revealed by Business Telegraph in October.

It has now confirmed that it will open at 51a Dawson Street in the city – a unit next to Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill – in March, its seventh venue.

The company said its opening would add to the “already vibrant” food and drink options in the area, where restaurant The Ivy is also located.

Juice Jar was founded by Sam Shephard in 2019, inspired by his experience of healthier on-the-go options while living in London and travelling in Australia.

There are already Juice Jar stores in Belfast, Bristol and Portrush, with 64 staff across seven venues. Its Belfast locations are at Lisburn Road, Botanic Avenue, Wellington Place and Ormeau Road.

The company confirmed the Portrush unit has been shut for January, but will reopen at the weekend.

It said its landlord has put the Eglinton Street site on the market for sale, along with other units, though Juice Jar will continue to trade at the spot as tenants.

Juice Jar serves sourdough sandwiches, fresh juices, smoothies and acai bowls.

Mr Shephard said: “I am absolutely thrilled to finally be able to launch our Juice Jar concept in Dublin and cannot wait to deliver something truly special.

“Belfast has embraced our vision of fresh, unprocessed and nutritious foods as well as our in-store events.

“I cannot wait to build our Juice Jar community in Dawson Street and grow our footprint across Ireland.”
