As we kick off the new year, many of us are prioritising our health, setting goals for fitness, increasing protein intake, or boosting hydration. After December’s indulgences, a detox could do wonders for your wellbeing.
A diet rich in fruits and vegetables is key, brimming with essential vitamins and antioxidants. Why not add kiwi to your shopping list this month?
Not only is it delectably sweet, but it also packs a nutritional punch. The popular Instagram account @healthyeatingfood, followed by over a million users, highlighted the perks of this fruit. In a recent video, they explained: “If you eat kiwi fruit every day, your body change like this.”
The post added: “Number one – say hello to glowing skin. Kiwi fruit is rich in vitamin C, which is the secret weapon against aging skin. And guess what, if you have trouble sleeping at night, kiwi is for you. They are rich serotonin – the happy hormone that allows you to sleep well.”
The account further praised kiwis as “superheroes” for the immune system, beneficial for heart rate regulation, and helpful for digestion. “You can say goodbye to ingestion blockage,” they concluded.
Doctor Karan Rajan, known as Dr Raj on TikTok, has endorsed the health benefits of kiwifruit, particularly for those struggling with digestive issues. He said: “If you’re constipated and bloated, then this evidence-backed kiwi regime could be salvation for your bowels.”
Meanwhile, the social media page @healthyeatingfood suggests an easy way to enjoy this fruit: “To quickly peel a kiwi, cut it in half and scoop the flesh out with a spoon. The peel can be eaten for an additional boost of fibre.”
They also advise, “Once ripe, a kiwi should be refrigerated until eaten.”
For a creative twist, they recommend making a zesty salsa by combining kiwi chunks with mango, peppers, and cilantro, or creating a breakfast parfait with layers of kiwi slices, Greek yogurt, and low-fat granola.
Additionally, you can “ddd kiwi slices to various smoothie recipes to add vitamin C and copper to a nutritious snack,” says the healthy eating advocate.
