Claudia Winkleman has revealed her unique twist on the classic omelette. During a chat with Kathy Burke on the podcast, Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake, The Traitors star opened up about some of her quirky food preferences, reports Surrey Live.
The TV and radio presenter admitted that she isn’t a fan of moist roast chicken, explaining: “I like scratchy food. There’s going to be a lot of gravy. I’m having a side of macaroni and cheese.”
She also detailed her go-to omelette recipe, adding: “In some butter, I’m frying some onions, I’m adding salt so that they don’t burn. You’ve got your fried onions in there.
“I don’t like expensive crisps, or chocolate or ice cream, but I do like an expensive egg… I like a Burford Brown, when the yolk is bright yellow. I’m whipping up two of those, really whipping them, salt, pepper, you’re throwing that on the fried onions.”
The TV personality then described how she adds cheese to her omelette: “Then you’re grating in some cheddar (mild please, not mature), and then I’m folding it, and I’m crisping it up.”
But the real surprise comes with the final touch, as Claudia revealed: “I’m eating that on top of a piece of buttered seeded bread,” she said. “Mic drop, the end, night night. There is no other omelette.”
While not everyone might fancy an omelette on buttery bread, Jamie Oliver certainly does, having spoken highly of this “silly” omelette and “oozy” cheese combination alongside chilli jam in a past video featuring a cheesy baguette recipe.
The Strictly Come Dancing star isn’t shy about her unique culinary tastes. Previously on James Acaster and Ed Gamble’s podcast, Off Menu in 2020, she said she doesn’t drink water.
And in a 2016 conversation with Red Magazine, she confessed that she had been known to indulge in multiple Filet-O-Fishes from McDonald’s.
