A suspected stolen vehicle crashed into a wall after a police chase in Bristol. Avon and Somerset Police said two people from London were arrested after the collision.
An officer spotted the allegedly stolen vehicle in Downend at around 1.20pm yesterday (Sunday, January 19). A chase ensued after the driver failed to stop.
The vehicle then crashed into a wall in Cassell Road, at the junction with Downend Road, in Fishponds shortly before 1.30pm. Police said a man and a woman fled the scene before being arrested a short distance away. Officers also found a quantity of suspected drugs and money inside the vehicle.
The pair, who are in their mid-20s and from London, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and drug offences. They have been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
Avon and Somerset Police said: “An officer sighted a suspected stolen vehicle being driven in the Downend area at about 1.20pm yesterday (Sunday 19 January). The driver failed to stop the vehicle and the car was pursued by police, before it collided with a wall in Cassell Road shortly before 1.30pm. There were no injuries reported.
“A man and a woman left the vehicle and were detained a short distance away by officers. The vehicle was searched and a quantity of suspected drugs and money was seized.
“Both suspects, who are in their mid-20s and from London, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and drug offences. They have been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.”
