Jewellers in Co Antrim have said they are “in shock” following a burglary at their store during which a “substantial” number of items were stolen.

Police received a report of an alarm being activated at Steensons Jewellers in Glenarm at 11.40pm on Sunday.

The popular jewellers, who make handcrafted jewellery at their studio and also have a store in Belfast, previously worked on a number of pieces for the HBO blockbuster production Game of Thrones.

It was reported that two men entered the Glenarm showroom on Sunday and damaged a number of display cabinets, taking a large amount of jewellery.

The PSNI has appealed for anyone with any information to contact officers on 101, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

In a post on social media, Steensons urged anyone nearby with doorbell footage to check if it recorded the perpetrators making their way to or from the scene in the New Road area between 10pm and 12.30am and contact police.

“We’re still in shock from the destruction left behind last night. Our showroom in Glenarm has been badly damaged and it will take us some time to get back to normal,” they said.

“Recognisable Steensons collections ‘Flower’, ‘ Leaf’, ‘Theorem’ and ‘Papyrus’ have all been stolen, as well as work by Jill Graham.”
