Put Fraser Minten in the group that’s in awe of what Easton Cowan is doing with the London Knights.
Cowan will look to extend his Ontario Hockey League regular-season point streak to 61 games on Tuesday night when the Knights visit the Kitchener Rangers.
On Monday, Minten tried to put Cowan’s run, which started in Nov. 2023, in perspective. From one Maple Leafs prospect to another, Minten did his best to wrap his head around it.

“It’s insane,” Minten said. “I think I had a pretty good junior career and the most I ever had maybe was six or seven. If you get above 10, that’s unbelievable. If you get above 10 two or three times in a year, that’s unbelievable.
“Sixty is … I don’t know how you do that. It’s really impressive. There’s more to the game than just the points, but being able to do that every night is really not easy.”
Minten said he talks to Cowan “pretty much every day. He’s a good friend now.”
As Cowan has gone about producing on a nightly basis, Minten has settled in nicely in his first year of professional hockey.
His game with the Leafs against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night marked his 12th of the season in the National Hockey League. With the Toronto Marlies, he has 10 points in 16 games.
“It has been really fun and I’m just happy to be playing pro at 20 years old,” Minten said. “On top of that, it has been challenging with how much up and down there has been (between the Leafs and Marlies).
“That’s a new thing that I never had to do before. It’s interesting to be part of different teams.”
That the Leafs and Marlies are in the same city, though, has been a bonus for Minten.
“It’s a huge advantage that people who get drafted to the Leafs have,” Minten said. “You don’t really realize it until you’re in it, but it’s really nice to be at home, whether you’re on the Leafs or the Marlies.”
Minten was more than an interested observer on Saturday in Montreal, when he was a healthy scratch for the Leafs’ 7-3 win against the Canadiens.
“That was probably the coolest hockey game I’ve ever seen,” Minten said. “That rink is unbelievable. You want to be out there, but you’re grateful to be around it if you’re not a part of it.”
