Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th US president, taking charge as Republicans claim unified control of Washington and set out to reshape the country’s institutions.

Mr Trump’s swearing-in ceremony was moved indoors due to intense cold.

Former presidents, foreign leaders and tech billionaires were among the famous faces in the Rotunda of the US Capitol.
