Hundreds of protesters are expected to gather in central London today to demonstrate against Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
The “Together Against Trump” rally will take place in Richmond Terrace, Whitehall, from 5pm as the former President prepares for his inauguration ceremony in Washington DC.
Stand Up To Racism, the organisers behind the London protest, have called for demonstrators to unite against what they describe as Trump’s “far right, reactionary agenda”.
The demonstration comes just days after thousands gathered in Washington DC to protest against Trump’s incoming presidency.

The organisers have raised specific concerns about Trump’s impact on Britain’s healthcare system.
“With Trump in the White House, our NHS is once again under threat from American privateers,” Stand Up To Racism said in a statement.
The group added that Trump’s “unabated racism” continues to “fuel the global far right” and urged the Labour to take a stand against Trump’s “dangerous agenda”.
The Peace and Justice Project, founded by former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, has thrown its support behind today’s rally.

Yesterday’s People’s March in Washington DC drew smaller numbers than organisers had anticipated, with around 5,000 protesters attending despite expectations of 50,000.
Demonstrators gathered at three parks before marching to the Lincoln Memorial for the rally.
“I’m really not happy with the way our country’s voted,” one protester, Brooke, told the BBC.
“I’m really sad that our country’s leaned towards a president that’s already failed us once.”

Another protester, Kayla, said: “Honestly, I’m just mad, I’m sad, I’m overwhelmed.”
The march has been an annual event since 2017, when it began as the Women’s March following Trump’s first election victory.
Metropolitan Police said they have spoken to organisers and placed conditions on the demonstration.
Protesters must remain within Richmond Terrace “to prevent serious disruption to the local community and transport networks”, according to the force.
Officers expect the protest to conclude by 7pm.
The demonstration comes as Trump prepares to be sworn in as the 47th president later today, with the ceremony moved indoors due to cold weather in Washington DC.
Trump will take charge as Republicans assume unified control of Washington, having overcome impeachments, criminal indictments and assassination attempts to win another term.
