Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is making all sorts of headlines — and they haven’t been for his play on the field.
The Eagles star arrived in whatever the opposite of style is for Sunday’s NFL division round playoff game against the L.A. Rams, pulling up to Lincoln Financial Field driving a Honda Accord.
The clip of Brown parking and entering the stadium went viral after being posted on X by local ABC TV host Jason Dumas. As of Monday morning, it had been viewed more than 1.4 million times.
While the starting price for a typical Honda Accord is listed around $30,000 with many deals to be had in the Philadelphia area for used and older models, it’s not like Brown is short on funds.
He may be a penny-pincher, but Brown’s bankroll certainly should be able to afford a more luxury ride for the three-time Pro Bowler.
Brown had signed a three-year, $96-million contract extension with the Eagles last off-season, which came with a signing bonus of nearly $20 million. That massive contract came on the back the first blockbuster deal he signed with Philly – a four-year, $100-million pact.
So, the star receiver is hardly trying to make ends meet.
This is the second week in a row that Brown has gone viral for something that had nothing to do with his play.
During last week’s wild-card round win over the Green Bay Packers, he was seen reading a book — “Inner Excellence” by Jim Murphy — on the sidelines during the victory.
The clip exploded online and propelled the book to the top of Amazon’s best-seller list nearly five years after its May 2020 release.
On the field, Brown has failed to make an impact as the Eagles have focused on running the ball while on offence. Against the Packers, Brown had one catch on three targets for 10 yards and against the Rams he contributed two catches on seven targets for 14 yards while both teams struggled to air it out in the wintry conditions.
For the season, he broke the 1,000-yard threshold for the fifth time in his six NFL campaigns. He also hauled in seven touchdown receptions.
Next week, Brown and the Eagles will host NFC East rival Washington Commanders with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. The game kicks off at 3 p.m. ET but some may tune in early to see how Brown rolls up to the game.
