The female driver of a car that became a crumpled wreck in a three-car crash on the southbound lanes of Hwy. 400 near Hwy. 7 late Monday morning was lucky to escape without serious injury.
OPP Const. Kerry Schmidt said the driver was airlifted to hospital after her car was approaching slowing traffic when it was rear-ended by a tow truck which sent her into a pickup truck hauling salt.
The southbound lanes were closed for several hours but the collectors stayed open to allow other cars to proceed and the northbound lanes weren’t affected at all, said Schmidt.
Those travelling southbound were advised to get off at Major McKenzie while the investigation was underway.
