ITV viewers were left utterly gobsmacked on Saturday night as they tuned into the latest episode of The Masked Singer, where keen sleuths tried to decode the mystery contestants.
This week, it was Teeth who caused a stir among the audience with a performance that threw off everyone’s guesses.
The character, who had previously performed with a deeper tone, delivered Dua Lipa’s song Houdini in a decidedly more feminine voice, reports the Mirror.
Even the panel appeared to have been misled by the clues as they guessed stars such as Rylan Clarke, Rob Beckett and Alan Carr. Davina McCall, however, was the first judge to speculate that Teeth might in fact be female.
Viewers rushed to Twitter to express their shock at the possibility. One person said: “Ffs, I thought Teeth was Bradley Walsh, but it’s a woman #TheMaskedSinger” and “Is Teeth actually a woman???!!!! #TheMaskedSinger”
Disbelief spread among fans, with one saying: “Well, that’s just changed everything. Teeth are female? ? ? ? #TheMaskedSinger” Someone else wrote: “I thought Teeth was a man last time, and now it’s obviously a woman.”
Trying to drop hints, Teeth has previously said: “You can probably tell I’m a bit of a big mouth.” They’ve also hinted at striving for gold, which led some to believe they might be an Olympian.
Teeth’s true identity is still a mystery to ITV audiences, but Tattoo’s mask came off on Saturday night to reveal the face behind the costume was 80s icon Carol Decker.
Following her departure from the show, she shared her thoughts, expressing both her love for the experience and her disappointment at having to leave.
Reflecting on her participation, Carol said: “I’ve loved it, and I’m going to say, I’m gutted! Everybody is amazing. I’m gutted because it’s the best fun ever.”
Interestingly, despite donning a tattoo-themed disguise, Carol confessed she doesn’t sport any real tattoos. Host Joel Dommett playfully prompted her to get inked with her character’s design for her very first piece of body art.
Up to this point, celebrities including Macy Gray, Prue Leith, Kate Garraway and Mo Farah have been revealed.
Yet, the curiosity lingers as Bear, Bush, Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Pufferfish, Snail, Teeth, and Wolf keep their identities tightly sealed.
