A man was shot and a woman injured after a gun was fired in a disturbing attack. Both were taken to hosptial after a man in his 40s sustained a gunshot wound in the incident, in Stanway Road, Gloucester, on Saturday, January 19.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 9pm, after receiving reports a man had been shot. The victim was taken to hospital and remains there today, a spokesperson for the force said. A woman was also injured and, after receiving treatment at hospital, has since been discharged.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said it is believed three suspects travelled to Stanway Road on two motorcycles before the man was injured outside an address on the road. Officers are investigating the shooting and remain on the scene while further enquiries are made. No arrests have yet been made.
Detective Inspector Paula Hannaford said: “It is really concerning that a firearm has been discharged on our streets and two people have been injured. This level of violent crime will understandably cause concern within our communities, and it will not be tolerated.
“We’re doing everything we can to identify those responsible and we’re asking for any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
“Witness statements have been taken and we are in the process of reviewing CCTV footage, however, we are still keen to hear from anyone with information about those involved.
“There will be an enhanced police presence in the area while our enquiries continue, with extra patrols taking place.”
Officers are appealing for information and would like to hear from anyone who saw two motorcycles being ridden in convoy in the Coney Hill and Abbeymead areas last night, or anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage which could assist police. The suspects were wearing dark clothing and helmets.
