Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou engaged in a tense exchange with a BBC reporter following his side’s 3-2 defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Australian coach appeared visibly irritated when asked about a “familiar story” during his post-match interview.

The BBC reporter had asked Postecoglou: “Ange, familiar story, what are your assessments of that performance, please?”

Looking up from the ground, Postecoglou responded with a stern “Familiar story?”

“Great way to start an interview,” the 59-year-old responded sarcastically, before refusing to make eye contact with the reporter.

When the reporter clarified “Well, in terms of the defeat,” the Spurs manager looked back down at the ground.

The exchange set a tense tone for the remainder of the interview, with Postecoglou maintaining minimal eye contact throughout his analysis.

The defeat at Everton marked Tottenham’s seventh loss in their last 11 Premier League matches, with just one victory during that period.

The result was particularly concerning as Spurs conceded three goals against one of the league’s lowest-scoring sides.

The poor run of form has increased pressure on Postecoglou, who joined the north London club from Celtic.

The defeat at Goodison Park has pushed the Greek-born manager ‘perilously close to the exit door’, according to reports.

In his post-match analysis, Postecoglou acknowledged the team’s difficulties, particularly in the first period.

“Yeah look, it was a tough result for us. Obviously in the first half we struggled to get control of the game,” he said.

The Spurs boss admitted his team selection may have backfired: “I made some changes in the team that probably weren’t helpful in the end. I had players struggling to come to terms with it.”

He added: “Everton then capitalised on it. In the second half, the players put in the right response and you know, credit to them but we fell short.”

This was not Postecoglou’s first confrontational media exchange during Spurs’ difficult run.

The manager previously clashed with talkSPORT’s Sam Matterface following a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle.

During that encounter, Postecoglou was reported to have shouted “get off the fence” at the broadcaster.

Tottenham now sit down in 15th in the table and just eight points above the drop zone.

They return to action on Thursday in a crucial Europa League clash against Hoffenheim as they look to finish inside the top eight.
