The Masked Singer UK’s sixth series is captivating audiences on ITV, with viewers eager to deduce who’s behind the masks of the new character line-up.
So far, three celebrities have been revealed. Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway and The Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith were the first to be unmasked as Spag Bol and Pegasus in the opening episode.
They were followed by 90s music icon Macy Gray, who was discovered to be Toad in the Hole during the show on Saturday (January 11).
Fans are diligently working through the cryptic hints to figure out the identities of the remaining disguised figures – Bear, Bush, Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Pufferfish, Snail, Tattoo, Teeth, and Wolf.
One character, in particular, has ignited a flurry of speculation online, with numerous fans convinced they’ve pinpointed the celebrity – or celebrities – behind Teeth.
A Reddit user last week claimed to have “cracked” the clues surrounding Teeth, suggesting they point to a well-known Irish pair, reports the Mirror.
“Rewatched the clue VT and noticed an Irish tricolor flag on the side of the toy bus, and green and orange salad on a white plate too. There’s also binoculars hanging on a map of Europe,” they posted.
Their conclusion: “So I’ve convinced myself Teeth is Jedward and they’re either going to take turns, or next week another set of Teeth will appear.”
Supporting this hypothesis, another enthusiast noted that the clue packages contained several Eurovision references. Notably, Jedward has twice taken the stage for Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest, in both 2011 and 2012.
A clue hinting at a toy coach could also be linked to the pair’s stint on Celebrity Coach Trip.
In line with the Eurovision theme, some fans speculated that Teeth might be Cheryl Baker from Bucks Fizz. Other celebrities whose names have been tossed into the mix include Alan Carr, Rob Beckett, Linda Robson and James Buckley.
Teeth made their debut on The Masked Singer stage on January 4, performing Tony Christie’s 1972 hit ‘(Is This The Way To) Amarillo’.
The judges found it challenging to agree on the character’s gender after the performance. However, they did maintain a footballer theme in their guesses, with Davina McCall suggesting Alex Scott, while Mo Gilligan believed Jimmy Bullard was behind the mask.
The next episode of The Masked Singer UK will air at 7pm on Saturday, January 18 on ITV1 and ITVX.
