Vancouver’s Ryan Reynolds isn’t letting the ongoing drama around his wife Blake Lively’s film It Ends With Us stop him from adding to his soccer team portfolio.

The Deadpool star, who along with Lively is being sued by It Ends With Us actor/director Justin Baldoni for USD$400 million for damages, and his Welsh football club Wrexham FC partner and fellow actor Rob McElhenney are part of an investment group that acquired Colombian club La Equidad. The purchase was announced on Jan. 16.

The group behind the purchase of La Equidad is led by investor Al Tylis and soccer executive Sam Porter and includes actor Eva Longoria, retired NBA player Shawn Marion, San Francisco Giants pitcher Justin Verlander and his wife, model Kate Upton and podcaster and author Scott Galloway a.k.a. Prof. G.

The club did not release financial details of the purchase.

“This is the first step toward a future full of opportunities. Al Tylis and Sam Porter not only have extensive experience in the sports world but they also have the support of recognized figures such as Eva Longoria, Rob McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds, Justin Verlander, Kate Upton, Shawn Marion and Scott Galloway,” La Equidad posted on X, ESPN reported.

Based in Colombia’s capital Bogota, La Equidad was founded in 1982 and finished 13th in the 20-team league last season. Their Estadio Metropolitano stadium has a capacity of 10,000.

Last year Reynolds and McElhenney also bought a minority stake in the Mexican team Necaxa.

The duo are also part owners of the beer brand Wrexham Lager.
