Princess Kate reportedly made a secret visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she previously underwent chemotherapy treatment, before Christmas.

The Princess of Wales, 43, made her first solo public engagement in more than a year on January 14, publicly visiting the specialist cancer centre.

The alleged pre-Christmas visit was to personally thank the medical team who, in her own words, “have walked quietly alongside William and me as we have navigated everything,” according to the Daily Mail.

During last Tuesday’s official visit, the princess met with fellow cancer patients and expressed gratitude to the nursing staff who supported her through treatment.

During her reported December visit, the princess entered through a back entrance to maintain privacy, the same way she had done during her treatment periods.

Sources revealed she brought thoughtful hand-picked festive gifts for the doctors and nurses, including biscuits, as a gesture of appreciation.

The private visit was not recorded in the Court Circular, which officially documents royal engagements, and it is unknown how long the princess stayed.

A source described the gift-giving as “typically thoughtful of Catherine” and highlighted how appreciative she remains of the team’s support over the past year.

The princess’s last treatment at the Royal Marsden was before autumn, when she completed her course of preventative chemotherapy.

Her cancer had been discovered following serious abdominal surgery in January last year.

Kate has now announced she is officially in remission, with doctors finding no current evidence of cancer.

The Princess of Wales, who has indicated there will be no immediate return to royal duties, chose to make this announcement separately from her hospital visit, feeling it would have been inappropriate to share while meeting patients still undergoing treatment.

The princess, who is focusing on recovery while gradually building up her diary in the coming months, has been appointed joint patron of the Royal Marsden Hospital alongside Prince William, who serves as president.

Described by a source as “a lifelong commitment”, the position will see her continue making both public and private visits to support patients and nursing staff.

The princess is particularly focused on helping provide comprehensive support for patients’ physical and emotional wellbeing, both during initial diagnosis and long-term care.

Prince William previosly described 2024 as “brutal” and “the worst of his life,” while recently praising his wife’s strength throughout the ordeal.
