Davina McCall has shed light on her desire to remain tight-lipped about her relationship with beau Michael Douglas.

Together since 2019, the host of The Masked Singer has commonly been tight-lipped regarding their partnership in public forums, attributing this privacy to respect for both parties’ previous marriages and children.

Davina, a mother of three she shares with ex partner Matthew Robertson, confided to the Slo Mo podcast with Mo Gawdat: “I got together with Michael at 51. I feel every relationship I had kind of prepared me to be a better person for this relationship.”

She further remarked: “What’s interesting is because I’m quite guarded about it really, because obviously we both were married before. And I think that’s a big thing. And we both got children from our previous relationships.”

Adding to the delicacy of the topic, she pointed out: “And our ex-husbands and wives are the parents of those children. And those children can listen to this or their friends can listen to this. So I don’t want to bang on about Michael and our story.”

In another beat of personal challenges, Davina acknowledged in November last year her diagnosis and subsequent surgery for a colloid cyst, a rare benign brain tumour. Post-surgery, she experienced short-term memory issues but is focusing on her recovery at home, asserting: “I’m on the mend, I’m resting, I’m sleeping loads, I feel really good. And very lucky,” reports Devon Live.

Davina McCall and her hairstylist beau Michael Douglas took their romance to the next level in 2022 by moving in together after a three years together. Discussing the strength of their bond, the former Big Brother presenter heralded the “I can say that this is a very healthy relationship, I don’t think I was ready to have this kind of transparent relationship where we just sit and talk about things, no arguments ever, just a discussion through something, it’s just a very healthy relationship.

“I can say that this is a very healthy relationship, I don’t think I was ready to have this kind of transparent relationship where we just sit and talk about things, no arguments ever, just a discussion through something, it’s just a very healthy relationship.”

Davina also reflected on the timing of their relationship, suggesting that if their paths had crossed a decade earlier, things might not be as they are now: “And I don’t think I would have been able to be as good a partner if we’d have got together 10 years ago.”

Viewers eager for more of Davina can catch her on ‘The Masked Singer’, which airs tonight (Saturday, January 18) at 7pm on ITV.
