The PSNI has confirmed a woman hit by a motorbike in south Belfast yesterday sustained serious injuries following the crash.

The incident occurred close to St Jude’s Church in the Ormeau Road area shortly after 5:15pm on Thursday January 16.

Emergency services, including the NI Ambulance Service, attended the incident, after which one pedestrian was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

The PSNI has confirmed the woman aged in her 60s sustained serious injuries following the crash.

Sergeant Rooney said: “Shortly after 5:15pm, it was reported that a woman in her 60s was struck by a motorcycle.

“The woman, who was a pedestrian, was taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries which are described as serious.

“Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone with any information or who may have dash-cam footage available from the scene, to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1246 16/01/25.”

It comes after a number of incidents in NI over the last week in which pedestrians have been struck by vehicles.

On Monday, 77-year-old Carole Graham died after being struck by a white Kia Sportage in the Newtownabbey area, while on the same evening one person was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in the St Francis Street area of Londonderry.

A further incident in the city on Wednesday resulted in another pedestrian being taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in the Lisnagelvin area.
