A large snake has been rescued from a house fire in north Belfast.
The reticulated python, named as Jenner, was trapped in a room during a house fire on Friday morning.
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service successfully put the blaze at the property out, before PSNI officers located Jenner in a severely smoke damaged room.
A local animal rescue agreed to care for Jenner and arrangements are currently being made to place her in their care.
In a social media post, the PSNI North Belfast wrote: “Meet Jenner, a reticulated python that was unfortunately trapped in a room during a house fire earlier today.
“With assistance from our colleagues in Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service who put out the fire, officers from our Local Policing Team made sure no other occupants were trapped but they located poor Jenner in a severely smoke damaged room.
“After speaking with a local animal rescue, they agreed to care for Jenner, and we are currently making arrangements to place her in their care.”
