Keeping your kitchen clean, particularly the hob, is undeniably one of the most challenging household chores. This is especially true for electric hobs, as pots and pans can easily scratch the glass surface, leaving hard-to-remove marks.
Food and water stains are also tough to clean. However, if your hob needs some TLC, cleaning enthusiasts on social media have got you covered.
Followers of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch have taken to Facebook to share their solutions for grimy, scratched hobs, after one woman sought advice on how to keep it clean. And it’s simpler and more affordable than you might think, with easy solutions starting from just 90p.

One woman posted a picture of her dirty hob on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, asking: “We’ve moved into a new house and this is on the electric hob any idea how to clean off?”
Thankfully, group members were quick to offer their own solutions, with one suggestion proving extremely popular. One person recommended: “One sided razor blade, carefully, at an angle then Hob Brite. That’s what I do.”
Another echoed: “Hob brite is good,” while another added: “Hob bright and a hob scraper you can get them from amazon. Amazing bit of kit and doesn’t scratch.”
“Try hob brite,” suggested another, reports the Express.
You can purchase Hob Brite directly from the Fabulosa website for just 90p, making it an excellent budget solution for your hob cleaning troubles.
The product description reads: “Used regularly, Hob Brite by Fabulosa will build up an invisible film that protects against staining whilst leaving your home Lemon Sherbet fragranced.”
However, it’s not the only hero in the battle for a spotless, streak-free hob. The Pink Stuff paste is another crowd favourite, with one user claiming it ‘works a treat’ for banishing scratches or stains.
Another person said: “Pink stuff, mine is still like new.”
Method kitchen cleaner also comes highly recommended for maintaining a pristine hob, even after ‘eight years’, as one group member noted – available at Asda for £2.75.
Beko experts advise cleaning your glass hob after each use to prevent dirt and scratches from building up, noting: “Not only is this a great way of preventing spillages to dry up and become difficult to clean, this will help to keep your gas hob looking its best.”
