Nothing epitomises “new year, new me” quite like a day spa break. Taking a dip in the pool, lounging in the hot tub, or indulging in a massage or facial can do wonders to dispel the January blues.

But imagine jetting off abroad to enjoy such luxuries and then returning to Britain on the same day – all for less than £100. It might sound implausible, but that’s exactly what one savvy deal-seeker is advocating.

London-based travel blogger Sydney Marie, known on TikTok as @justsydneymarie, has highlighted an ideal spot for those eager to seize a European getaway, complete with a day spa pass, and then zip back home within 24 hours.

The Pachanga Pool Club and Spa, nestled within Jacy’z Hotel and Resort in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a swanky establishment that’s attracting “extreme day trippers” – people who take trips abroad and return on the same day – in pursuit of some timely indulgence this month.

In her TikTok video, watched by more than 160,000 viewers, Sydney lays out her entire itinerary for her forthcoming Swedish day spa adventure, itemising the expenses for her flights and spa admission.

She revealed that her complete excursion amounted to just £79, with return flights between London Stansted Airport and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport totalling £37.

She didn’t disclose the cost of spa entry, but a quick peek at the Pachanga website revealed day passes available for as little as £29. This includes a bathrobe, slippers, and a towel, as well as gym access.

The bargain price is less than UK gym memberships that offer sauna and steam room access. One glance at the hotel and it’s clear why it has such a cult following.

The glass tower with its lattice fronting provides panoramic views of Gothenburg, while the interior exudes a gilded, brasserie atmosphere.

If that wasn’t enough for the day spa-goers, it’s also just an eight-minute taxi ride from the Nils Ericsson bus station, which operates shuttle buses directly to the airport. This means you’ll be off the plane and in the spa in no time.

The spa is spread over two levels – the pool and sauna are on the 27th floor, boasting stunning city views, while the 28th floor houses a bar and dance floor for those who want to party as well as pamper themselves.

The day pass is available in three-hour slots, providing just enough time to soak up the ambiance and the pool water, while allowing visitors more time to explore the city or stay at the hotel. The only caveat, however, is that treatments are not included in the price and must be booked separately.

But this didn’t deter other TikTokers from going a step further and booking an overnight spa, stay, and breakfast package – the cheapest of which was £72.

TikTok travel influencer @jessystriker1k shared her excitement about snapping up an overnight spa, stay and breakfast deal for a mere £77.

A follower responded with enthusiasm as well: “Can we talk about how insanely good the hotel smells! Biggest regret was not buying the candles from the shop.”
