A fundraiser launched by the mum of a tragic NI teenager who died following a quad bike accident earlier this month has raised more than £65,000.
Tiarnán Trainor (13) died in hospital on January 3 following a collision involving the vehicle in Co Armagh.
A fundraiser organised by the boy’s mother to raise funds for the emergency services who tried to help Tiarnán has already raised tens of thousands of pounds.
Majella Campbell said the funds will go towards the NI Air Ambulance Service, Belfast Hospital for Sick Children ED and the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
“Following the tragic loss of our son Tiarnán we as parents and siblings feel the need to give something back to the emergency services that tirelessly tried to save Tiarnán’s life on the day of his accident,” she said.
“As a family we watched an expert team of medical professionals across three different emergency care sectors do everything within their expertise to give Tiarnán a chance of survival. Sadly for Tiarnán and us his injuries were too severe.
“They treated us with respect and dignity throughout his time on the roadside and in the hospital.
“Please give what you can as we never know when we will need to avail of these services in the future.”
At Tiarnán’s funeral, Ms Campbell said her son was “full of love, affection, kindness, adventure, curiosity, devilment and energy” in equal measure, which made sure “life was never dull”.
“Conor and I brought TT into this world — and he was, without doubt, our world,” she added.
“We will cherish every moment we had to savour, nurture, love and share in the life of our beautiful son.”
