Anne Robinson, the “Queen of Mean”, is set to host a one-off stage show of the legendary BBC quiz show The Weakest Link. Among the celebrities she’ll be grilling is Sky News presenter Kay Burley.

In an interview with the i, journalist Helen Brown noted that Anne was already preparing her jibes for the contestants, including a comment about Kay Burley’s “facelift”.

However, when it was pointed out that Anne herself had undergone cosmetic surgery, she candidly shared her views on the subject.

“It wouldn’t be fair to other women of my age not to be honest,” she said. “I didn’t like watching myself on Watchdog and thinking: ‘Why is my mother on television?’

“I always tell people it’s no different from getting your ears pierced. If you’re happy to put holes in your ears to change your appearance, then why shouldn’t you put holes in your face?”

In September 2024, Anne revealed that she still receives attention over her £9,000 facelift, with people asking her questions about the procedure years later.

Anne, who has also admitted to receiving Botox injections, previously said she’d wished she’d waited before showing her new look on TV. She described plastic surgery as a “bit like taking a leg of lamb out of the oven” as you have to “let it rest for a bit”.

Anne endeavoured to drum up support for Hatherop Primary School, raising funds to transition from “leaking prefab classrooms” to a “proper building” through a charity show, which also prompted her to double down on her fitness routine.

In conversation with the Mail, she revealed: “I’ve doubled my Pilates classes and am training to stand upright.”

After hosting an impressive 1,600 episodes between 2000 and 2012, the quick-witted quizmaster stepped down from The Weakest Link in 2011.

Yet fans were delighted when the beloved show made a comeback to our screens in 2018, this time with comedian and ‘A League of Their Own’ star Romesh Ranganathan taking the helm.
