Two men are facing several firearm charges and other offences in connection with separate shooting investigations that began last year.

Toronto Police accused one of the men of being involved in two different shootings, both of which happened in July 2024.

The first incident, which police said they responded to on July 10 at about 4 p.m., was in the Weston Rd.-Steeles Ave. W. area bordering Vaughan, where police found a man with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, while a suspect vehicle fled from the scene in a vehicle.

The second incident was on July 13 at about 3 a.m. in the Jane St.-Sheppard Ave. W. area, where two people were walking through a parking lot. Three suspects exited a vehicle and allegedly discharged their firearms at the two before fleeing the scene.

Police said no physical injuries were reported.

Brandon Turner, 21, of Toronto, was arrested on Monday and charged with two counts each of discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a loaded firearm, occupying a vehicle with a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The other case involved a shooting on Dec. 28 at about 1:40 a.m. in the Kipling Ave.-Steeles Ave. W. area after the victim and the suspect, who knew each other, got into a verbal argument in front of a residence.

The suspect allegedly discharged a firearm and struck the victim before fleeing in a vehicle. Police said the victim was hospitalized with a “life-altering” but non-life-threatening injury.

Magaljan Perinbanathan, 33, of Woodbridge, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a loaded firearm, occupying a vehicle with a firearm, failure to comply with a release order and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition.
